What's newIndustry accreditation for tourism coursesTAFE NSW – South Western Sydney Institute was recently awarded with certification as an Authorised Training Centre (ATC) for its travel and tourism courses by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). IATA is a worldwide association of more than 270 airlines and it has approved the Institute to deliver its course. South Western Sydney is the first TAFE Institute in Australia to be given the prestigious Authorised Training Centre status by IATA, and is now one of only three IATA-accredited ATCs in Australia.

And if you are going to be in an environment where you’re serving or handling alcohol – bars, clubs, hotels, a licensed cafe or restaurant – then you’ll need a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. Endorsed by the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing and the NSW Liquor Administration Board, the course covers responsible service strategies; the legal obligations of bar staff; and the strengths and effects of alcoholic beverages and standard drinks. You will also learn about smoking regulations and the benefits of responsible service strategies.
